Maggi Analogy For Software Development LifeCycle
Feeling Hungry??? Deliberately in need of something to appease your hunger?????
2 Minutes.......... Noodles Ready...... Cook........ Eat.......... Enjoy..........
Let us enjoy the feel of cooking and eating Maggi reading this and as a by-product let us learn something technical too..
Requirements for Preparing Maggi:
1. Maggi Packet
2. Water
3. Stove
4. Lighter/Match Stick
5. Kadai
6. Spatula
Requirements of SDLC:
As we have listed down all the requirements for preparing Maggi, the initial phase of Software Development LifeCycle is listing down the requirements for the development of the software. For example, we may need certain set of hardware, software, technical resources, capital amount, tools, etc. Those are listed down. This comes under the Requirements phase of SDLC.
Analysis : Preparing Maggi:
Just imagine that we have never prepared Maggi before and if so we will look into the instructions on how to cook in the rear side of the packet. Here, we analyse how to prepare Maggi by looking on to the instructions or the procedure.
Analysis : SDLC
Like we analysed on how to cook Maggi looking on to the instructions, here we just analyse on how to develop the project or software for which we have listed down the requirements. We analyse it with the help of many aids such as document history, technical expertise suggestions and so on. Here, we just think or plan what should be done for the development of the software.
Design : Preparing Maggi
After looking onto the instructions, we just plan in our mind how to carry out the listed steps before actually doing it.
Design : SDLC
Similar to the Design phase of Maggi preparation where we plan how to execute the steps we have analysed, in software development we plan how to execute the outcome of Analysis. In Analysis, we plan what to do and in Design phase we plan how to do it. Design phase includes preparation of flowcharts, etc which aids in the actual execution.
Coding : Preparing Maggi
We start preparing maggi making use of all the requirements listed. Since we have planned already on what to do and how to do, we start doing now.
Coding : SDLC
We start programming or code the software what we have planned to develop. The outcomes of Analysis Phase and Design Phase guides us what to do and how to do with the help of which we start coding or developing the software.
Testing : Preparing Maggi
After preparing Maggi, we test a sample by tasting whether it has turned out good or not and whether it is properly cooked.
Testing : SDLC
After the software has been coded, we test the software with certain standards which is actually performed by the Quality Analysis team. We check whether the developed software meets all the standards.
Acceptance: Preparing Maggi
If the maggi prepared by us is tasted by some one else and if they accept that the prepared maggi tastes good, then we can say that the maggi we prepared has been accepted.
Acceptance : SDLC
If the developed software has been accepted by the one who has assigned this task of developing the software, then we say our development cycle is completed.
Enjoyed Cooking Maggi??? Learnt SDLC???
Now, will you forget The Software Development LifeCycle? I guess No.
Whenever you come across this SDLC, hope this Maggi Analogy comes into your mind and helps you out.

My Catalyst
Welcome back my dear friends..... Even before starting to blog, the idea of expressing my gratitude to my guruji in words was deep inside my heart. This creation of blog has paved way for that. I feel really proud to write about him. Dusting my old memories, let me start here.
It was in 2005, I completed my school education. Days were so long while waiting for the results. Then,I was attracted to an advertisement and approached a popular training institute with the motto of learning the 'C' programming language in the days before entering the college. At that point of time, I don't even know what a language is, what a syntax is, what a statement is and not even an alphabet of programming. Imagining something like a drag and drop tool or something visually attractive to work, I was waiting in the laboratory of the training institute staring at the monitors of others who were working with colorful photos in Adobe Photoshop. To my great disappointment, my instructor opened a blue colored screen without any visual treat and started to code. That was something which I didn't expect and moreover not a byte or bit of information has reached my grey matter. That was a mere waste of time and money however I enjoyed those days making fun of others who come to that institute. Learning 'C' programming seemed like climbing an Everest to me.
After getting admitted to a meritorious college to pursue my engineering, I concentrated mainly in making new friends, chatting with them, watching movies and so on. One fine day, I happened to have a look on my first semester syllabus and fainted right then. Can you guess the reason for my fainting? Yes. 'C' Programming was listed boldly in the sheet. I was really frustrated by the thought of that blue screen again. As I have gained a number of friends, one of them uttered the name of this person for the first time to me and suggested me to undergo a 'C' course in his institute. At once,I screamed "No......." How could I manage to withstand that screen, code, syntax ,... again?? Is that not a punishment for me? What the sin have I committed to be punished in such a way? All these thoughts filled my mind but in some corner of my heart , I had this strange feeling to do what my friend suggested.
The following weekend, five of my friends approached the institute where my another friend had referred to and asked the trainer for a fast track course on 'C' programming. Luckily,we had a vacation for about a week and so we started the course on that very same day. Cursing my situation, I was just waiting for my session to get started. There came that magical person and started our course with the question "What is a computer?" The day was completed video recorded in my memory. I was taken aback on seeing the way he started, proceeded and finally landing on to the core part of the syllabus. Who in earth would inscribe 'C' in your memory other than Mr.Lakshmanan sir of iTech,Thanjavur. Yes. It is the name of that magical person whom I started to tell about. This photograph can give a wild guess on the style of his teaching I guess. Believe it or not, he really possess impeccable teaching capability.
From that very particular day, I really started loving 'C' and not only 'C' but also, I started to love programming. This is how I entered iTech Computer Education in 2005. I guess none but him could lucidly explain a programming language without even a computer. With his guidance and blessings, I got placed in TCS. It was much more interesting when I was waiting for the call letter after completing my degree. I used to be in iTech the entire day learning new programming stuffs, chatting and enjoying with friends. One peculiar thing about our sir is that he become younger every year while we get older. Such an attitude he has. His social attitude is admirable. His helping tendency is adorable. His power of motivating the students is immeasurable. Years rolled by after entering TCS followed by my marriage. Before six months, when I planned to continue my career the first person I thought of discussing this was with my guruji.
Since I had a great interest in coding which was an outcome of his teaching, I thought of learning Application development and when I called and asked him for that, he just smiled and replied," Come.Lets see". I was unaware of the hidden message under his smile and this casual answer then. It was roughly on the first week of July, I started learning the fundamentals of Application Development. I had registered for the iTech Workshop 2013 on Application development. But, to everyone's surprise, guruji Lakshman sir had transformed me into a faculty for the same workshop for what I had registered as a student. Who could dare to do this miracle other than Laksh sir???? He had trusted me too much to give an opportunity to take a seminar for the postgraduate students of Annai Group of Institutions.
I myself could not believe whether this was the original Karthika I had seen a few months back who had a break in her studies, her job and because of which had a trace of fear regarding her career. A drastic change in me,right? I was just loaded with a complete package of confidence in order to invoke a job object of the placement class. Thank you very much sir. I am always grateful to you. I am blessed generously by God to have such a mentor in my life. I dedicate the fame and name I have earned in our workshop to the Master Mind Guruji Lakshman Sir. Thanks for choosing me as your student sir. With gratitude forever.....

Back to College
College - It is the most adorable episode of everyone's life. How would one feel if this episode is repeated or rewritten with extra segments of interesting events? That is how I feel now. Yes. I am experiencing the vibrant college atmosphere again. What makes me feel so elated is that my entry to college has happened after a few turning points in my life.
Getting placed in TCS was a dream to me 5 years back. But, the dream came true and I joined TCS in 2009. Bangalore has transformed my working life more colorful. Life was stacked with Projects, Deadlines, Friday casuals, Hostel TV programs, New languages, Restaurant food, Weekend roaming, Window shopping, Cosmetic collection and so on... Even while drafting this , I could not resist myself from going back to the period and rewinding those funny, unforgettable days of my life. There came an interesting turn in my highway career. My marriage bond was made and hence I had to break my working bond with TCS to join my better half in Dubai.
Oh My God !!! Dubai !!! First time in an airplane... I was so much excited. Literally I was waiting for the day to travel in a flight. But, my first air travel had turned to be an awful one because of my becoming airsick with headache and ended in throwing up. My days in Dubai were very short and my feeling to sight see the world's best tourist spot was seemingly insatiable. God is so generous to give me a humble, admirable, intellectual, down to earth husband and I was completely immersed in his blessings when he gifted me with an angel for whom we christened 'Smrithi'. She filled our life with loads of unending joyfulness.
Two years rolled by after my quitting the job and my thirst for knowledge and technology which was a background process then came into front. The idea of pursuing my career in Sastra University was deep in my heart and I started to formulate the steps to reach the target. I started preparing for the entrance exams. Days and nights were completely filled with aptitude, reasoning and stuffs like that. As a result of my strenuous preparation for about a week, I cracked the exam and got admitted into the Dream University in the first round of counselling which gave a kind of satisfactory feeling to one and all in my family.
Entering a college cloud after a break of two years, after getting married, after becoming a mother, staying with parents and all these factors contributed to the elephantine package of happiness i carry with me to my college everyday. Feeling Young .. Feeling Energetic.... Feeling Happy... Feeling Vibrant.... Feeling New..... Everyday.... Every moment...... Count down started ............

Starting with a prayer
God - The secret of this mysterious cosmos. The power of comprehending God is infact in the out of coverage area for any species in this universe. The fact that understandability of God can never be acheived is the real wisdom one should perceive. As per the notion of starting anything and everything with a little bitty prayer, I pray the omnipresent God to guide me throught my entire blogging phase before penning my first thought. I just want to emphasis on a weird practice followed by a big proportion of people and it is none other than extending a business relation with God by demanding their needs in exchange of an offering. Do your conscience justifies it? Do u view God as a deal maker? If God could be soothed easily by offering flowers or anything of your choice in turn for your sins, why in earth would a person follow a righteous path? The sixth sense of rationality differs us from the irrational species and it is a gift God has given us to make the right choice of doing things amidst numerous erroneous ways. But, it is a sad truth that many envisage rationality as atheism.
The current generation has completely driven away from the age old traditional and spiritual practices which is the symbol of our heritage and it is a flaming issue in the hearts of many parents who desperately want their kids to be brought up in the same disciplined manner by which they were brought up. Being a mother of 1 year old kid, I personally undergo a serious skepticism of inscribing the moral virtues in her while bringing her up in a society of infamous modernism. My days and nights are filled with this serious pressure of responsibility and it seems to be like a nightmare to me and I guess many will resonate with my thought. I am just crossing my hands and eagerly waiting to see whether time favours me in this regard.
